The Bye Bye Blackbirds with host Summertime… on YOUR radio. November 9.
This Saturday night on your “KALX Live!” show, host Summertime has invited Oakland’s own, The Bye Bye Blackbirds. Their music is an irrepressible blend of classic 60’s guitar pop, americana/roots, 70’s power pop and contemporary indie rock.
Their influences are diverse, and that’s reflected in their songs. Speaking of songs, they’ll be playing songs off their new release (officially out November 12th) called We Need The Rain, which is something you may also be hearing on KALX, now that it’s in the station music library and available for spinning.
This album was recorded in late 2012 and early 2013, and right now it’s available as a vinyl limited edition (of 250 copies) that also comes with a CD and the immediate digital download in the format of your choice. Take a spin over to their Bandcamp if you’d like to check out the album and and listen to some of their tunes.
On November 16th they’ll be performing over at the Starry Plough, along with The Orange Peels and Jesse Rimler. This is the record release show, and it starts at 9 PM.
Here’s “Waiting for the Drums” from We Need The Rain to get your weekend started. http://thebyebyeblackbirds.bandcamp.com/track/waiting-for-the-drums
